I hope everyone has a great time over February Break!

 

I sent home extra books to read and a longer reading log. If you fill out the reading log over break I will be giving out a treat/prize after break.

 

Sight words were not done today due to schedule changes.

I will do sight words on Monday when we get back.

Phonic words will also come home on the Monday we get back too.

 

 

We are running extremely low on Treasure box items. If you are cleaning out any closets or happen by the Dollar Store, we would love some new items.

YeeHaw! We had a great dance on Friday. It was great to see so many people in attendance.

 

This week has a few reminders and changes.

 

1. Tuesday is Valentine’s Day. We will not have a party. We will be exchanging valentines. Everyone needs a box or gift bag big enough to hold 17 valentines from friends and teachers. You can start bringing in your boxes tomorrow. I will have a couple of extras but this was part of a “Have to” Homework activity.
2. Friday will be a delayed schedule day and we will not have specials in the morning. We will be watching a ballet demonstration from a local dancer from the Alvin Ailey dance troupe. J

 

Feb 20-24 is February Break. School will not be in session.

We had a very productive and busy week!

It was great to see a lot of people out at our SuperBowl Strategies night/PTA/PE Night! We had a great turn out! If you did not attend and you want to find out more great strategies to use at home with your child, please check out our KES website for more details.

 

Something exciting is going on at KES! KES has been selected to participate in a new grant called KickstART! I will be in training to learn more about incorporating the arts in our classroom. As part of the grant I will be creating lessons and keeping an electronic portfolio. To learn more about the KickstART, I’ve attached the press release about the program.

The first art integration lessons will focus on Theater.

Feb. 8^th Last day to purchase dance tickets

Feb. 10^th Western Dance

Feb. 14^th  Picture Day- We will take a class picture and individual pictures of those who prepay.

Feb. 14^th Valentine’s Day exchange- If you haven’t made your valentine box, you will need to have one by the 14^th. I will send home a class list of names so your child can fill out their valentines. We will not have a party, but will have a valentine exchange.
