Weekly Update

Hi Everyone!

Happy Friday! We had another big week of learning! I am so proud of our #bigthinkers! Today we met the counselor Ms. Norris. Next week we will have CoGat testing on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. A letter will go home on Monday about how our schedule changes for those 3 days. Your child needs to have the Big 3- rest, routine, and brain food! Please have your child eat a healthy breakfast at home (or at school) and bring a healthy snack each day.

If you forgot your classroom books today, please send them in on Monday to switch them out. I am excited to announce almost everyone got new sight word lists today. We even have 3 students who already know all their first-grade sight words! Congratulations to Hailey, Abdul, and Aminah! Please look for your child’s new sight words and this week’s homework in their blue folder. Remember we test every Friday, reading the sight words and writing the phonics words. (Note: There is a small typo on the Homework. The question mark should be a period in the Character Corner box.)

I’m excited to say that our school has partnered with Kennesaw Place again to show kindness to its residents. This fall, for grandparents’ day, we are collecting items for Ms. Fisher. I’m asking that families donate items to put in a basket for her. Her favorite things are non-dairy items, hairbands, and stuffed animals. We will be making cards and/or drawing pictures here at school to decorate her basket. Thank you in advance for helping us create our basket of goodies for her. All donations are due by September 8th. 😊
