Summer is almost here…

Dear parents,

Next week is our last week. Time has flown by! I have thoroughly enjoyed this year and I will miss each and every student.

Here are a couple of reminders for next week.

  1. We have a regular schedule for Monday. We will also enjoy snow cones from Mrs. Finnegan.
  2. Tuesday is an early release day. Specials are from 10:05-10:35 Lunch is from 11:10-11:40. Dismissal is 12:30.

Tuesday is also awards day. I think it would be cute if we wear our Sneetches shirts.

  1. Wednesday is the last day of school and is an early release day too. There will be no specials on Wednesday. We will have lunch at 10:00 that day. We will watch our 2nd Graders take their final walk at KES at 11:40 and wish them well at Big Shanty. Dismissal is 12:30.

On Monday and Tuesday we will be bringing home all of our extra items from the classroom. On the last day of school there will not be any backpacks allowed. If your child brings a lunch, please pack it in a disposable bag and make sure that they can throw all contents away. I have extra plastic spoons and a refrigerator if needed.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Mrs. Grecko

Week of May 16th…

I would like to thank all the parents who came to our Author’s Celebration yesterday morning! It was such a big hit we even ran out of food! The kids enjoyed reading their books and your comments too. If you compare the Q2 informational book to the Q4 informational book, you will see how much growth in writing your child has accomplished. I am very proud of them!

Yesterday a summer reading program sponsored by Cobb County Schools and Scholastic went home. We as a Cobb County school would like to break the national record for number of minutes read this summer. We would also like to see KES as one of Cobb County’s top schools. The flyer yesterday was orange and contained the web site and your child’s personal log in. Every time they read, they should log in those minutes! You can also count the minutes we spend reading at school. You can add 2 hours a day from our time at school. That is about the minimum amount of time we focus on Reading. If you need assistance with logging in please let me know. Start logging in today. The program actually started last week. We have some catching up to do! J

Way to go Class! We turned in all of our Library books, and as luck would have it, we won an hour of fun with Mrs. Finnegan!

We will get our fun reward on Monday in the afternoon.

There are a couple of time changes next week that affect lunch and specials. Dismissal will be the same. Here are the days and events so far.
